Hi folks,
My wife managed to create a few water marks/stains on the oak dining table top which looked quite unsightly. This has all been caused by the placing of flower vases without some sort of protection.

Anyway, I have sanded it all down and it has turned out really well. However, I have finished it off with Liberon Finishing Oil but unfortunately, and disappointingly, I have ended up with a glossy finish whereas the remainder of the table is matt.

Can anyone advise me please, is there an oil that will dry with a matt finish and if so, which brand is recommended.

Alternatively, is there something else that I should have used instead of Finishing Oil.

Many thanks.

You can knock it back with 0000 wire wool and use a clear wax over the top, if you don’t want to add another varnish over the top
