A couple of cart wheels Im busy with at the moment. The old wheels have been cut down and new tenons put on the spokes to take the new felloes (rim) . Next the old steel tyres will to rebent to fit the new size and will be fitted hot and rapidly cooled to go on tight

Alan:

How much did you cut down the wheels? Was the spoke and hub wood still in good shape? I've made a few wooden wheels for wheelbarrows, but they were pretty primitive. I have a book on wheelwrighting to use the next time I build one.

They were cut down by about ten inches Kirk as they will be getting used on a different type of vehicle which requires a smaller wheel.
The naffs (hubs) and the spokes were in pretty good condition given the age of the wheels
I originally learnt wheelmaking from a guy up in Moscow a little town in Idaho
