Hi,
Its probably been mentioned before on here but is it worth me saving all the old fittings off the vintage knackered furniture i scrap for cheap decent wood ie got a solid oak bedhead probably around 100yrs old for a fiver recently... i have taken it to bits and kept the metal fittings which are VERY heavy duty and made from solid brass and too nice to throw in the bin.
I had thought of Ebay to see if anyone wants them for a new build or just restoration? I have collected loads of superb knobs  and handles etc from other stuff and they look much nicer than the repro stuff.
Is there a market for this sort of thing or should i just bin them? obviously postage will be pretty high but haven't a clue what prices the hardware are worth.
Cheers
Brian

I re-use them (I have Scottish ancestry).

I find soaking in the white-spirit-washable paintstripper works well.

You'll find that modern versions of similar products are VERY expensive.

I'd have thought there IS a market, but you'd have to sell individual items, so it might not be worth it for that reason.

EBay is the right place, in my opinion. A quick look under Architectural Antiques/ Handles shows over 2000 listed now. They do sell, so why not try offering yours there? Much better than binning them. Search completed listings to see what sort of prices are reached.
