Record drive centre quality

I just received a new supposedly premium drive centre made by record, however the finish on the prongs looks cheap. I am wondering could I get the same quality as a cheap set for £14 as what I paid for this one?

The grinding on the shaft is fine but the machining on the face is poor, perhaps the tool is made from mild steel?

Thoughts any one.........

Try Chronos, they do one for £14.38. Their Crown drive (Steb centre equivalent) is also only £14.10 and works really well.

Have you tried it now that you have filed the tangs

These are used for biting into a piece of wood to drive it so I wouldn't consider the finish of the business end important. The quality and finish of the taper would be the bits that matter.
