I have this Record lathe that I used about 15 years ago and not since. Now I’m retired I want to start wood turning again but would like to shorten the bars if possible. Can anyone help with best size to go down to and any problems in doing this?

I have a CL3 36 and I hang the bars over the ends to reduce to 24 inches but I don’t believe you can do that with your version?

Record now only sells 24inch versions with a 1ft optional extension bar so I can’t see any issue with cutting them down by that much but Sod’s law will dictate that you’ll need the full length the week after you cut them!
