As soon as I can sell my large Axminster perform Lathe I'm looking at getting the small Record DML305 - any good?
I saw an example at the Yandles show and it looked very well made/finished and the price seems good. Should I look at anything else?

the jet mini or axi 1416 is worth a look. depends what your interest is really- if bowls, i would go towards the axminster. I have the jet and am very happy with it for what I do- the record is probably much the same in quality, and does have that extra 2" capacity.

The DML305 looks a nice little lathe, apart from the spindle thread and 1MT.

The sooner Record abandon the 3/4" 16TPI spindle thread the better IMHO.
1" x 8TPI (or M33 x 3.5 - even better) as the Axminster or Jet lathes give access to 2MT fittings and are better all round.

You're not wrong Jon. Record should have dropped the 3/4" spindle years ago.

I have the above lathe and can't fault it, Also bought the nova chuck and jaw package. Does everything i need it to do. Very quiet motor as well. Only downside as mentioned is limited bowl turning ability due to non swivelling headstock. I personally have no trouble finding 1mt fittings, even found an old set of 1mt drill bit's on ebay for it.

To got the axy vs version and love it, bought one of there returns off of flebay, was delivered like new and cost 210
One just got sold for 185! Worth a punt imho
Regards
Phil
