record 52 vice

I was given a record 52 vice last year and it worked perfectly but recently it keeps snatching or missing on windup. This happens both after sliding jaws closed on object or just winding up.

Given the tool a spray with wd 40 but no joy.

Any answers?

Check there is no compacted sawdust in the threads - either the screw or the nut.

And, assuming there is a quick release on it, ensure that the mech re-engages. Sawdust and dirt (and lack of lube) are the usual culprits.

Yah - I have 2 of these: they seem to need a 'disassemble, clean, lube, re-assemble' session about once a year.

Excellent when working properly though...
