Hello, looking for a good wood finishes book, thats really comprehensive. Ideally written and published in the UK. Thanks

finishing by jeff jewitt, it pretty much covers everything, but it's american.

Not sure about books but might be worth checking out the free online tool that rag n bone brown created.

I'm with Jim B; Although Charles H Hayward's book may not reference new polymers, etc., it provides a complete guide to the techniques involved in basic staining and polishing, and is the best start I can think of for the work.

Frederick Oughton: "Complete Manual of Wood Finishing". Discursive and detailed.
More useful for a beginner but excellent and practical - Charles Cliffe "The Woodworker Manual of Finishing and Polishing".
Not my thing but am just having a look at stuff for a project.
Any suggestions of where to get small amounts of Aniline dyes: "black, blue, Bismarck brown, Vandyke brown, green, red, maroon, and purple"?
I've just ordered the Hayward book too.
