Most of the CH radiators that I've fitted in the past, have had a sort of hook type contraption on the back which fitted over brackets screwed to the wall - the radiator being dropped in a vertical direction to make them meet. These radiators were also fed from pipes coming up from the floor.

So relatively easy and enough play in the pipe to make the connection.

Now the ones I'm in the process of fitting have two concentric sleeves. The hollow female part is screwed to the wall and the male spigot bolted to the radiator. The radiator is them fitted in a horizontal direction. This works OK for feed pipes that come out from the wall horizontally but I'm puzzling how to connect pipes, that come up vertically from the floor, to the radiator given that there isn't very much play in the pipes.

Any thoughts, guys ?

TIA

I’ve fitted a few of these and just ordered one more. My way of getting them line up horizontal and vertical is to use my tool box and some wood off cuts to rest it on while lining it up and screw the pipe fittings on a few turns, check for level and then mark up for drilling the supporting screws.

Not the most technical way but always works for me :D

It's not the alignment that's the issue as I see it but the fact that the radiator slides along the horizontal plane as it's fitted int the wall 'sockets'. The pipes need then somehow to be fitted in the vertical direction and need a certain mount of play to get the pipe int the TRV or lock shield. Play that I haven't got.

Easy-peasy when you have pipes coming out horizontally from the wall !

Is this them?
If so looks as though the eccentric ring could be used to raise the radiator to get the pipes in and then lower the rad to close the joint before tightening joint.

as per your pic,
a) can you not turn the valves on the bottom so that the pipes face each other ant then add a 90 elbow down to the ground? then sit rad on pipes mark wall etc or is there still not enough play in undone/ loose valves to accommodate sliding onto mounts?
b) fit service valves and JG pvc pipe.

Still not completely clear on those fixings. I know its not manlike, but have you read the instructions? The manufacturers must have a way to do the job.
