Next week I will be making a cabinet for the rad.

What thickness mdf do they use?

As a rad works on convection and not radiant heating I don't need those fancy, ugly and expensive (to my mind) panels with holes in them, yes/no as long there is a draught from bottom to top I am thinking of just a plain panel Shaker style.

Any links to styles of cabinets for me to mull over ?

I made one recently and fitted a fancy panel bought from my local timber merchant, just over £20. It does give the cover a nice finish.

At the moment I am doing a roaring trade supplying rad covers to care homes , new regs mean all rads now have to be covered, and was getting panels from FOCUS at £14.98 but now go to B&Q as they match and reduce competitive price by 10% which means they now sell to me for £13.48. Just mention Focus price.

Also am making my in wood (Hemlock) which saves on wastage.

Some will say this is iffy ie. wood movement but number have been fitted since September and I have not had any complaints.
