If anyone could answer this i'd be grateful.

I have a small amout of wood i'd like to leave to season. The thing is its got some small splits at the end, nothing major, but would it be best to try and cut the ends off to avoid the split spreading and then put some kind of treatment on the ends?

Thanks

Cut the ends off a little bit past the ends of the cracks if you can and apply pva glue, oil based paint or similar on the cut ends straight away.

The idea being to seal the ends of the cut fibres and slow down or stop the loss of moisture from them that leads to cracking, while letting the wood dry out from the larger flat surfaces which happens more slowly.

Cheers, Paul
