What would anyone recommend for finishing some wooden tea coasters. I have some old oak fence posts that have great end grain when sliced and make for nice tea coasters. Just not sure what would be the best finish to cope with hot cups and water spills?

You want to get hold of some AC two pack lacquer (+ Brushing thinners as it really is a spray applied coating). It's rock hard stuff and will do a fine job. Unfortunately it's normally only supplied in 5 Ltr quantities but a company called Rustins do a product called 'Plastic Coating' in smaller unit sizes which is one and the same thing.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Ian
