Hi guys

New to this forum so apologies if this is in the wrong section. I have just bought a Perform PT 260 off ebay and I have an issue with the thicknesser feed. It seems the indeed roller is set higher (2-3mm) than the blade so that by the time I have raised the bed high enough to engage the wood in the roller, I am removing 2-3mm. This gives me a minimum cut depth near the maximum. Surely this is wrong and the spring loaded roller should be lower than the blade so it can engage the wood before the blade starts taking a cut. I have looked for adjustments but can't see any. Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks

Stu

Perform kit can be pretty basic but I think there must be some method of adjusting the roller position.

You could always ask Axi? They don't seem to have a manual on the website but could send you one.

Don't know how the feed rollers are mounted on this model, but often they are spring mounted and the space the spring should push them down into can become full of chips, especially if not used with a good extractor. This then stops the rollers engaging with the timber exactly as you describe. Worth seeing if this is the problem before you condemn the machine outright.

Thanks Dick M

You were correct, there was a small amount of dust behind the support, propping it up a bit, I removed that and the feed in roller dropped about 0.5mm. This helped a bit but I needed about another millimetre. Also the out feed roller was very high and not contacting the wood at all In the end I had to unbolt the cutter head using the 4 hex bolts on each side and raise it 0.5 mm. I then lowered the blades 0.5mm (the blades are now level with the outfield table again but underneath the blades are lifted 1mm) there is now very little height difference between the out feed table and the body of the cutter block and the blades barely project past the outside diameter of the block so I hope this is not an issue. Everything now works perfectly.
