I have profiled router cutters that I use for cabinet doors. The scribe is done in 2 passes with the tenon running over the top of the cutter.

The cutters I use are here. http://www.wealdentool.com/acatalog/Sash_Bar_54.html

With these cutters the length of the tenon is as long as you want as the cutter passes over the top of the cutter and you are scribing the tenon shoulder.

What I want to know is can you do the same with a spindle moulder ?

If so, what block would I need and is it possible to cut the scribe and the tenon at the same time rather than having to cut the tenon first and then scribe like I am having to do at present when doing them with a router ?

As I am making exterior doors I want to use a through tenon and as such need to have a tenon ~ 100mm in length

Thanks

Whitehill should have something suitable like the following

http://www.whitehill-tools.com/catalogu ... 14&c3id=78

Their knives are usually wider than the block so provided you have the block held with a recessed fixing the tennon will go over the top

Thanks Jason. Looking on their site I can see they do a scribe block with a recessed aluminium bolt so you can pass the tenon over the top of the block

Jason just a query not a criticism but the link to the Whitehill cutters is for clockwise knives.....is there a reason for this. I think most of mine are anti-clockwise..?? Thanks Geoff

Thanks Jason...thought I might have missed something as my SM can spin either way..G
