I had some off cuts of oak given to me and thought they would make a nice jewellery box.

Cut the top, bottom and sides. Grooved the sides to take the drawer runners. and glued up.

I then made the runners and tried for a tight fit.  Too tight, split off the front of the housing.

Not too pleased but decided to carry on.

Made three drawers out of mahogany. cut some oak for the fronts and glued them on. That's when I found the next mistake, after inserting the drawers I hadn't left a lip on the drawer front showing an unsightly gap

I decide to cut off the fronts on the table saw. The first one left a thin veneer on the drawer which decided to plane off. What a mistake to make   Instead of using the hand plane I used the surface planer causing breakout on the drawer side.

This I managed to glue back using a fine paint brush to get the glue into the split and the clamping.

After that everything went to plan.

Cut some oak for the plinth and glued on

Cut strips of 3mil ply, covered it with sticky back velvet like stuff and fitted in to the drawers.

Not my best project but I am happy with the final result :) :)
