I have just finished some garden furniture in Iroko. It needs to be finished in a Farrow and Ball colour to match some existing external shutters. The finish coat can be oil or water based but in the past I have found Iroko difficult to get a good adhesion. Has anyone any experience with this timber. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Giff

the best undercoat I've ever used is Sikkens Onol, which you might b able to get from Dulux trade centres. Thin the first coat with 10% thinner.

Cheers geertswaans...I will have a look on Monday. We have a Dulux centre nearby. Another suggestion is Crown Aluminium wood primer. Anyone knows about that ? Thanks Geoff

I have never used the stuff geertswaans said but I have found crowns primers to be of great quality and dry really fast (water based ones dry fast anyway, oil don't ). Not used the Aliuminium one though.
