just read that right through and its a very handy aide memoir. Its very easy to get into a rut with your finishing. I think I've done that to some extent with a solid 3 choices that work for the vast majority of my work. What the article does is lift you back to the summary of the choices available and explain simply what each does and why. I've pretty much stopped using friction polish for example and tend to use cellulose SS followed by wax when on smaller projects friction polish is perfectly good and quicker.

So thanks for posting that, I think I'll print and keep in the workshop.
 
I agree it's too easy to find something that works and then just use it for everything when there may be better options available
