I've had a Dakota (Rutlands) pocket hole jig for quite a few years but never really used it.
I want to make some garden furniture out of 2x4s I assumed I could use this jig. Having had a look on the web it seems that there are a few elements I could do with understanding before I commit to buying the fixings.
On the newer versions, and on the Kreg K4, there's a measurement guide for the collar on the drill bit that relates to the width of the timber, and also the sockets can be raised up, again depending on the timber thickness. Mine doesn't have those features so how do I account for using the thicker timber?
I can remove the socket and clamp them onto the timber but how do I know how far back to place them?
I downloaded the Kreg screw selection guide (http://www.kregtool.com/files/newslette ... -screw.pdf) so I'm looking at 51-63mm screws, so at least that's some help.
I've also seen this - https://www.kregtool.com/store/c13/kreg ... jigreg-hd/ - do I need it or will my smaller jig be sufficient?
