I'm trying to source some hinges for a computer cabinet so that the doors can open and slide back into the cabinet out of the way.
i don't suppose anyone knows where i can find a supplier for these hinges and the correct name for them (as this name was used in american book i have)
thanks for any advice

Hi Will, welcome to the site. I've always known them as such.
www.isaaclord.co.uk stock them. Do a search and stick in "pocket door hinges" and bingo. Although I'm sure other hardware specialists stock them.

cheers. I didn't realise they would cost that much but they're perfect, thanks again

I've been trying to recall the other name for them - Flipper doors.
I have no doubt there are cheaper mechs but finding a supplier could be difficult. Others I've seen are more than twice the price.
Best of luck, anyway.

They are quite expensive but they have to be pretty robust so don't go for the cheapest you can find.

They do take up quite a lot of space inside the cupboard as well so while they look great and get the doors out of the way, they will probably make your cabinet significantly wider (c 65 - 75mm) esp if you are planning on hiding the mechansim with a panel.

Cheers

Tim

Hi Will,
try item 408.07.350 from Hafele hafele.co.uk.
This is just one example, they do quite a few choices, have a look under "runners". Just one downside - you have to open a trade account with them (not hard) and meet their minimum order criteria.
Good luck

If you want hafale, then try a local ironmonger/lock smith as they can often get the items from Hafale

Yeah, Jasons absolutely right, hadn't thought of that. Gets round opening an account too. If you ring Hafele and ask nicely they'll tell you where the nearest stockist is.
