The handle design is based on the Moses Eadon Dovetail Saw with changes made to suit my needs.

The handle wood is Burdekin Plum;
11" x 2 1/2" below the saw plate;
12 tpi; 5* rake angle; rip tooth.

regards Stewie;

That's crisp execution. I have a question about milled slots for the back vs. folded backs -- does this preclude entirely the 'old' strategy of retensioning the plate by tapping with a hammer, for those times when the plate might develop a bit of a curve for whatever reason?

It certainly does. OTOH I've never hear about a blade in a slotted spine in need of retension.
And they are around for more than 3O years now.

IMHO the reason for the curved blade in folded spines is, that the spine has become loose.

Nice work, Stewie.

I think in 'Holtzappfel' terms, that would be a carcass saw - a dovetail saw for larger joints such as those in 7/8" or so carcase sides. The 12 tpi rip configuration fits that too. It would make a good bench saw for smaller general cross-cutting work as well - so quite a handy general purpose saw.
