I did sort it a few days ago.
Got a straight edge, found both tables perfectly straight and level. The knives were a tad below the outfeed table. I got a small straight piece of oak and adjusted the knives like you suggested to push the wood strip a few millimeters along the table then clamped them tight.
Tried with a piece of pine, perfectly straight, same with some oak.
So it seems the knives being very slightly below the outfeed table was the cause. As to how this happened I am not sure. The knot did cause a very loud bang when the blades hit it and I wonder if it knocked the cutter block out of alignment?
I have now learnt how to remove, clean and reset the knives.
