My first piece of proper turning for a while I spent just under an hour in there and it was cool enough to go into the shed this morning so decided to turn one of my London Plane blanks that I have the finished bowl is 8 3/4" X 1 3/4"

thats a cracking bit of grain Derek
nice to hear you back in workshop
I like the way you left it simple and let the wood "talk"

Steve

Good looking bowl Derek, nice simple shape to a great piece of timber, nowt plain about it

Simple form 'wood doing the talking' bowl, looks good, bit of a shock for the workshop having all those shavings to absorb.

Better than the effort I did last minute on Friday before weekend events interrupted workshop time.
I started on some home cured Ash and the first one looks as though it failed in more than one respect, turned out to have a crop of end grain splits that did not show until turned and the grain structure is so overpowering the it dominates the whole.
Must rethink the forms for the rest of the blanks.

Thank you Chas.

I know that feeling when it does not go right but I am sure you will either recover it or make something out of the remains.

Very nice return to the slippery slope Derek.
Whilst I don't often comment, other people's craftsmanship is both an inspiration & a joy to see.
Please keep up the good work.
