Hi All,

I have recently been given a pine table similar to this one:

And I would like to do some work on it so it looks like this:

I have also just bought these chairs and would like the wood to be the same colour as the white table legs (we are reupholstering them as well but got that covered).

I have no experience in this area as I have just bought my first house so if anyone could give me some useful tips and what I need to buy that would be great.

We got the table for free so willing to spend a suitable amount of money to do it up and make it look as good as possible.

Thanks for the reply,

I realise the photo of the original table has a coating...mine does not.

Would you suggest just adding this oil paint onto the surface to get this finish?

Would the legs of the chairs and tables just require a white paint of my choice?
 
The oil paints are for the legs. I would sand any existing finish off top and bottom, then oil the top and finally paint the base. There are some good tips on the linseed oil paints on the forum if you search.
