Has anyone used one of these really small round over bits?

The cheapest i can find is a Trend one at around £32.00 .

I want to round over the edge of a small bandsaw box with few tight radius.

Before i spend any cash ....can the pin guided one get into a tighter radius than the bearing guided one?

Also has anyone found a cheaper supplier than Trend?

Thanks

Just because it is beyond some people does not make it useless.
If the pin is smaller than the bearing then it will get into corners better.
Wealden don't seem to do Pin type round over but Trend pin size seems to be 9mm on their roundovers.
You ought to be able to find a 9mm bearing roundover bit which will be superior to a PIN version.

If you can find a Pin type with a pin similar diameter to the radius of the cutter then that will get pretty close to the corner only leaving a small amount of hand work to finish to job.

Found this one, not 3mm unfortunately but 2.4mm. You would have to use it in a Dremel or Minicraft Drill as the shaft is only 3mm.

In the spirit of this season and as others have done similar for me from this forum, if you can use, it drop me your address by PM and I'll bung it in the post for you.

It's over 20 years old and I haven't used it yet so it would be good if someone can use it.

I use a Titman pin guided round over it will burn if you dwell in one spot. The trend linked to is OK the smaller bearing gives an ovolo from the same cutter

Kev,

Lidl have some cheap sets on offer tomorrow. So cheap you can consider them semi disposable.

if you use a bearing guided one, the last 7 or 8mm can be sanded by handed, the radius is so small its like knocking off the corners anyway.

Thank you all for those replies, they really helped.

Yes i wanted the pin style so i could get into really tight radius's

Funny thing the internet isn't it..............I carried on searching and this popped up.

Ed Bray. Thanks for the kind offer but i don't have a dremel ....i hope you get to use it some day.

Cheers all.

3mm round over is just a couple of strokes with sandpaper.

I buy the proxxon router bits for a little over £3 each and consider them disposable. They last well but as mentioned before there is a tendency for the pin to burn the wood if you aren't careful.
