If I wasn't working lates,I'd make a trip down for that :(. Have a cracking day.

Thanks Steve, look forward to seeing you on the weekend. The burgers are in the fridge I am just off the clean the BBQ and mow the paddock for parking.
All welcome, free to get in with demo's all day and 10% off tools, Richard Maguire is making a piece of furniture buy hand and Paul Hodgson is cleaving and pole lathe turning, I am demonstrating sharpening and planing by hand and using Hammer’s new Spiral cutter block under over. One last minute addition to the format is Roger from Wood Workers Workshop making a box on his Incra router table.

Cheers Peter

Well...

... my guess is that Peter and team are still clearing up after us all!

I can only say thanks. We were there for about five hours or so. It was excellent, a really nice bunch of people to talk to (and quiz!), and some really interesting demonstrations (we were still talking about the spiral cutter head and that Hammer P/T after we got back - dead impressive!).

I've bought a large can of, er, something-or-other-vaguely-finish-related ("depressurizing" in a cool spot as I type this), and some 0000 steel wool that I badly needed (now on the shelf), and a stack of ideas to go on my Christmas list.

Beautiful spot, really nice weather, great furniture to look at, friendly people, burgers, and really fine steel wool! What more can a man want?

To Peter and team, and everyone who came along, especially to Richard Maguire and to the Furniture and Cabinetmaking team who travelled so far, and those who barbecued in the heat(!): a great day, thanks very much indeed !

I was standing with the light coming across the planed stock towards me. There weren't any obvious marks, and the finish was clean enough to be shiny, but it's understandable that there may be some.

There's another thing I haven't heard mentioned - the block ought to put far less mechanical stress on the machine components and the motor and might even take less power in use. That's because it's not as percussive as the standard type, and is doing a narrow slicing cut rather than 'chopping' into the stock like the standard arrangement. The instantaneous force required to drive it becomes much less.

I think it's an elegant solution to the problem.

Sounds like I missed and good event, unfortunatly the hayfever has come back with a vengence, i was liaking from holes i didn't even kne existed.

Would love to see some pics.

What an excellent day. It was great to meet some new woodies and put a face to few old ones. Many thanks to Peter and his team for his excellent and generous hospitality.

Hi guys, thanks for traveling in the heat and joining us for the day. The event was well attended in the region of 150 visitors who milled around and chatted with all the demonstrators. My students enjoyed the buzz of showing what they had achieved in nine months; I hope that photos and video of the day will be available soon but if any of you who visited did take any photos please do post them.
The Hammer is indeed very quiet, the finish from the block was very clean on the ripple Sycamore, slight cutter lines are visible with the grain but nothing like the ones as seen on the post from the other side (I assume it was a rogue block) any planer will leave some witness cutter marks from the planing process. My reckoning is that this Silent power block will be very good for interlocked grain, low on noise, as energy efficient as pointed out by “E”. But if you want no cutter marks (Utopia) you will have to move over to a sander.
Thanks for the course bookings, tool sales and good humour in the heat, and hope to see you again at our end of the year tool show on 30th Nov, or this time next year.
If you have any topics you would like demonstrated or people you would like us to try and get for next time please tell us and we will see what we can do.
Thanks Peter

Paul

Very busy

Cheers peter

I wasn't having a go at you, Peter. I was just surprised that none of the attendees had bothered to post any pictures of what sounded like an excellent day.

Cheers
