I have this router with 1/2 bits but would like to fit a 1/4 shank bit, do I need to buy a adapter for this.
Now I must admit I have not used this machine for over 3 years and then only about 6 or 7 times but I do seem to have a large selection of bits both 1/4 and 1/2.

I have a B&Q router which came with both 1/2 and 1/4 inch collets. You probably need a picture or some info like a part number for a definite answer. However if you haven't got the 1/4 inch collet now then a reducer is probably your only option, parts for own brand tools are almost impossible to find. A lot of the B&Q stuff was rebadged GMC kit (an Australian company) but they went out of business.

Good luck

Jim

an adapter will do the job. As above, I think that you are unlikely to find the actual collet available, but you may be lucky. if you only use it once in a while, i would just go for the adapter.

I have been having a rummage in me shed and found the 1/4 collet the 1/2 one the cir-clip keeps popping off, I will not be using it for another 4 weeks as I'm still convalescing after my operation but thanks for you help. Reg
