Just finished this box made of pecan. Tkhe wood was retrieved from the firewood box. (Alf, you are not the only firewood multiuser) :D I am now waiting for the BLO to dry before putting on a top coat. The accent wood is purple hart. ( despite Adam's great directions, I am still unable to post a pic. You will have to link to it.

The wood is air dried for 2 years and hard as a rock, but I sure like the grain.

Travis, I love wooden boxes and yours is really nice - fantastic grain and the relief in the top works well too :)

Travis very nice, mitred corners with contrasting splines are very attractive. Is the lid a loose fit?

Travis a good use of firewood and a very good box :D I like boxes :D
I also use firewood I have a couple of pieces of sycamore drying in the workshop at the mo.
