HMRC have sent me another tax underpayment for tax year 2006/2007. I can't understand how they can be allowed to get away with this.

I was a PAYE employee for the 2006/2007 tax year and had no other source of income, and yet they are demanding money because of a mistake they made. What is the point of being PAYE when they can screw up and then come and demand monies some 4/5 years later.

The following might be useful,

Wouldn't be inclined to just rollover and pay - an ESC A19 doesn't cost you anything and is free.

I've had the same. 4 letters in 2 months all telling me they've fecked up and I owe them, in total, £1300!!! Which they have very kindly adjusted my tax code to steal back off me over the next 12 months!!!

Fuming! Their cock up and now I'm a ton a month down!

Will have a loo at that link later.

Cheers
Mark
