Been meaning to look into this sooner but the other year I got a possible lead in my quest to find a maker of my vintage scooter
anyone-into-vintage-toys-t59111.html?hilit=%20scooter

Alas the owner of this other aluminium one has no info either

All the clues are there, but I cannot find it.
What am I doing wrong?

Any help greatly appreciated 8)
Cheers
Andy

This might be your scooter:

Patent searching is a bit of a black art, and this application was made in 1919 and not granted because the fee wasn't paid. However, the inventors may have resubmitted with improvements, and yet again not proceeded to full grant. Unfortunately the numbers don't help because the design is no longer registered (if it was UK to start with), and there's no searhin gone provisional numbers.

Your front forks are very similar, as are the wheels. The rear is different, but this is a year earlier than your cast dates.

Next stage is to search out Allt and Lock to see if they had links with any toy maker. If you click on the Original Documents tab you see that Allt claimed to be an aeronautical engineer (in 1919, so one of only a few). He and Lock lived at the same address in Clacton, which might imply a whole different story.
