Just bought one, but the fence has ~0.5mm play (up/down) each slide on the rails it goes back/forth on. Frustrating as both parts look machined. Maybe in practice it's OK as you're always pushing down

I bought one yesterday as well, but I've yet to examine it...
Incidentally, a bloke in front of me in the queue had got 3 in his basket. No prizes for guessing what's going to happen to them when Lidl are out of stock!

Just had a chance to fiddle with mine out of the box, Si465...
Seems "well made" enough, but I've a problem with fitting the height stop...the cog/gear wheel concerned with control 13 should run up and down the "grooves in the angle stop"...and without a bit of brute force, it doesn't.
I finally managed to get it in/down, but back up by turning clockwise? Doesn't seem willing.
I did notice it's as dry as a dog's a5se (as Shakespeare had it)...wonder if a bit of grease might help?

Edit : Tried a bit of petroleum jelly. Didn't make much difference.
There's definitely a bit too much play....So far, the solution is to slightly lift the control 15 side in order for the cog's teeth to engage the grooves properly....

Perhaps it's a case of John Inman's "ride up with wear"?!

I took mine back!
The up and down was clunky on the one I had, and just too much movement between body and workpiece.
Also I plugged it in and turned it on - louder than any of my angle grinders!

I bought a Lamello on eBay for about £120 and it had had very little use. It's in a totally different league to anything I ever had before.

Yep... like @Nail said... thanks for the heads up and saving me £27 - I've a plus card and a 10% off voucher code so, maybe, it would be. £24.30?... Will still look tomorrow - can always take it back. Maybe not quite the same as @robgul got from Aldi?

Price is tempting to give it a try - but also I'm hearing alarm 🔔s because of.

I got one and I have similar problems. The fence has some wobble in it, with some adjustment I could stop that but then the fence was out of square. I’m taking back as well.

Well, I haven't plugged mine in yet...not sure whether to in all honesty, or simply nip to the store and grab a replacement...or a refund?
Most of the youtube stuff about biscuit jobs all seem to point out the "wriggle room" between slot and biscuit, so perhaps the slight mis-alignment - and it is slight - is to be "expected"?
Dunno...

It's many, many years since I used a biscuit jointer - probably 33~34? - which, I think, was an Elu model. Couldn't afford one back then - or since - and resorted to using a router and slot cutter instead. I do recall having to make the slot longer and slightly deeper (the wriggle room you mention) but don't recall any misalignment in the machine I used.

One thing with Lidl... *keep your receipt to hand* so you can take it back if it doesn't perform properly in use... the other thing being the 3 year warranty 👍

Ah yes....the receipt.
The shiny, dark grey paper roll they use black ink on! Can hardly read it today, let alone in 3 years!

Unfortunately the old jalopy failed its MOT this morning and I'm off the road until tomorrow (?) so I won't be returning it today.
I have, however, managed to scrounge a few biscuits from a neighbour, so might give the jointer a whirl before I do.

@Cozzer 🤣 yes... the dark grey/bluey paper receipt... that's the thing about having their app - digital receipts saved for any future need... just a case of either putting the printed receipt in the box the tool came in or a piece of paper/note with date purchased so you can locate the digital receipt. That sounds like I'm organised but far from it 🤣 - it's what I try to do but... 🤣.

Sorry to hear about the MOT... Hope you manage to have a play with the jointer with the few biscuits from your neighbour - I'm guessing he'd be interested in how it performs... I know I would be if I was your neighbour 😉.

I always photocopy the receipt and staple both together, this saved me an argument in Halfords with a 5 year battery warranty. They end up in a folder with similar stuff

Honestly, a waste of money.
Biscuit jointers need to be accurate, and something with a sloppy construction is never going to give you that.
Theres a reason Lamello is the price it is. Even Bosch,DeWalt or Makita are poor in comparison, but are adequate enough for most jobs.
I've a Makita one and its ok.

Having visited my local store to find 2 boxes on the shelf I decided against buying/trying one. The size of the box is quite small considering what the tool is meant to do - so the tool itself would be even smaller... when I remember the size of the Elu one I used many years ago.

Got the car back mid-afternoon, so managed to get back to Lidl. On the understanding that a (repeat) refund would be available, I decided to do an exchange...
Just got back, opened the box, assembled the two parts.....and it has exactly the same problem.

It's definitely a manufacturing defect.
