I've been trying to make these compressed paper logs using a mould and a bottle jack as shown on youtube.

It looks really simple...soak the paper...mulch it with a drill and paddle then press it into a mould with holes in.
All the vids make it look so easy...but when i compress it, the mulch blocks the holes and the pressure builds up so much that it eventually forces it's way past the ram and it spurts out of the top.

Ive tried different size holes and added more holes but can't get the water to compress out.

The press and mould can be found by searching "peterson briquette press" on youtube and the main one ive looked at is by joel brown.

Anyone got any ideas what i may be doing wrong?

Thanks

Kev

Try adding a little washing up liquid to the water - it will reduce the surface tension and may allow the water to flow through the paper & holes.
