My son has a new router and recently collected some surplus wood from a friend. Some of it was painted and I suggested it would not be good to use the router on that, but I am guessing.

Can anyone please confirm, or otherwise?

Should be fine as long as it's not lead paint? I would definitely wear a mask/ goggles though. But scraping the paint off would be better. It will have to come off anyway if it being used for something other than practice?

routers cutters will cut mild steel without flinching! i doubt a bit of paint will hurt, recycling wood gives a good feeling, but im often left wishing the piece of wood was 50mm longer or the rusty nail was 5mm to the left!
