I'm making all natural toys and things and painting them with watercolours, covered with beeswax and olive oil polish. But it's really difficult on this one figure I make with stripes because it bleeds. Would acrylics bleed? Or do they stay put? I also like it to show the wood through, would acrylics do that or is it really dark and thick? I know it's not all natural, since acrylic is from plastic, but I just can't keep doing it the way I am, it's so time consuming the way I do it so it won't bleed.

If you sealed the wood with a sealer then that would stop your paints bleeding into the surrounds.
Type depends upon how 'natural' you wish to keep your work.

Typically three types are commonly in use,
1. Cellulose based will dry almost instantly due to the solvent.
2. Acrylic is water based and will take a little longer to dry off.
3. Shellac, the oldest method around and dries almost as quickly as the cellulose as it is spirit solvent based.

Typical specifications of the differing types here.
