Hi guys, more questions for you to help me with!

I am looking for some Brass (PVD brass) bearing type hinges with security pins in for a pair of outward opening external doors. So far all I can find are from Ironmongery direct and seem quite expensive once you add on vat and delivery. Anybody know of any others?

While on the subject of bearing hinges are all grade 13 hinges suitable for external use as I get conflicting answers?

Many thanks, Doug

Ball bearing hinges are fine outside, but the bearings are steel and eventually rust staining appears on the knuckle.

You can get shrouded bearing types which dont do it, but they cost more.

I used to offer both stainless steel hinges and brass. But I found the brass ones had the finish fail around the screws. I think once the screws are tightened, the force damages the coating and moisture gets under the finish.

I now just stock stainless hinges and fit those, whatever the handle finish. Very few customers even notice.

Robin, thank you for your advice (again), really appreciate it.

Went for the stainless, customer very happy with them.

Doug
