I bought some really nice curly walnut veneer at Harrogate which was too small for any larger projects.
The box is 400mm X 200mm X 80mm
The box is made from 8 oak octogons which are slotted on 2 faces to join with a spline to the veneered side panels.
The central divider is removable and fits onto splines in the legs. This also traps the base lining so it can all be removed
I used Pro craft hinges. Not the same quality as Brusso but fairly good. Service was excellent as one of the hinges didnt open to 95 degrees. No problem a quick call and a replacement arrived teh next day
Finish is acrylic with a wax polish on the external surfaces only

interesting design hornbeam, I have not seen a box quite like that before =D>

That does look very smart indeed. Interested you mentioned the Pro Craft hinges as I have had similar experience and they just put it right. Have you used Smart Hinges from Andrew Crawford? Availability can be a bit sporadic but that’s simply because he is obsessive on the quality.

Anyway - great looking box!
