So, my next project is to be made in oak (wife's request), but which type of oak?

So, I wonder what are the pros and cons between European Oak, American White Oak and Brown Oak?

I realise there is a cost difference but is there anything else I should know?

cheers
Steve

I use them all and the obvious difference is the colour. In order light to dark - American White, European, Brown. If it's for outside use European (or English if you can get it ) is the best.

well it is for internal bifold doors + frame, to close up a ~2.2m wide divide between two rooms.

The doors will have frames which will be kept as light as possible & may have a solid piece of toughened glass in each door. Each door will be about 540mm wide.

One room is light and the other is dark so maybe a lighter oak would be best.

Looks like US Oak is the way forward then, thanks chaps!
