no. 5 stanley plane

hi car boot bargin today no.5 £5-00 when i was taking it apart i noticed under the handle there was a number not sure what it was but started with Q, just wondered what they mean if anything , anyone know?

I believe it's just a casting mark. The Q is for Qualcast, the company who supplied the castings for Stanley UK (amoung others), and the numbers probably identify the particular pattern used to make the mould for the casting.
