Hi folks, my name is Barry, I stumbled across your forum after recently rescuing a table saw from work. Originally I had planned to use it for a decking project at my house but my boiler needs replacing so the project is on hold for a while. Unfortunately im looking to sell the saw on and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for a value.

The saw is a startrite tilt arbor with extension bars, guard and a mitre guage
Its got a 12" cutting disc
single phase 240v power and a 1.5kw motor
It works fine but there is a cover missing on one side of the motor where i assume you would have dust extraction.
The bars etc could do with a tidy up.

I can grab some pictures if it helps?

I dont like to sign strait onto forums to sell things but theres not much info around elsewhere and all the similar saws ive seen have been 3hp 3 phase.

any suggestions grateful

how old is the saw? Is there a model number on the motor plate?

You will not be looking at a fortune for it, but that said the startrite saws are highly regarded and that will work in your favour. I recently bought a small one for my father and had a go on it down at his. I have to admit that I was tempted to keep it but had spent ages modifying my kity so felt that i should stick with that.

Yes, that would be helpful. As a newbie you're restricted from being able to link to remote hosting of pics (until you've made a tleast 3 posts) but can upload pics (see Picture Posting Guide - it's a 'sticky' topic).

well on the plaque the serial number is 275 58197, am i right in thinking that the 275 is the model number? i was trying to reference it online but all the 275s appeared to be 3hp motors and 175s were 1.5hp?

just been trying to compress my images to get some pics up but this being my 3rd post i should now be able to use image tags from photobucket.

from having a read i think its a TA/SP.275 with 2hp motor as 1.5kw = 2hp. They appear to be anywhere from £700-1100 but since it needs a little tidying up ill probably try to sell it a little lower.

thanks again folks

Don't mean this to sound facetious but the value of the saw will be directly proportional to what people are prepared to pay for it. Without fully knowing what you are selling and its relevant market will put you at a disadvantage. I'd let it run in auction via Ebay myself, perhaps with a reserve that suits you.

I've been following exactly this type of saw on eBay and gave up as the prices seemed too high for my budget. Depends on location more than anything I expect, as it's not going to get couriered anywhere easily is it. I was looking specifically in the South West and most went for in excess of £500.

I don't know the specifics of this model, but from what I see it fit within my search criteria at the time.

both relevant points, any over 700 dont seem to be shifting. I was offered 200 by a dealer which wasnt a bad start as he'll want to make some money on it. Im tempted to give it a whirl on ebay and see what happens

Sounds like a pain but it is probably in your interests to offer to ship the saw at cost. Chances are whoever buys it is going to ask you to pallet it anyhow so if you can do this you may as well get a cost from one of the many couriers on Ebay.

It will greatly increase your chances of selling it for more. Saws with logistics offered generally fetch more.

I bought one of these off eBay about 3 years ago. I paid about 300 for it.. I had to collect myself..It is a great saw although mine doesn't' have the extension bars. I am now in the process of fitting out a new workshop and will be making extension tables for it.
