Hi all,

Please forgive me if this is a really stupid question! I'm new to all this! I would like to have a go at making a certain type of cake stand, unfortunately I cant post the URL as it says I'm not allowed! They are made by chloes custom cake stands. I am on the other side of the pond to her and would just like to have a go at it for personal use, so feel its ok to copy a bit!!!!

I have found a supplier for the circles, so that's ok. I just cant figure out how the tiers are held up. Is the dowel seperated into pieces and then clicked into the circles? If so, where can I buy dowel that is thinner at the end?

Thanks
Jo

You could do it by buying a broom pole/stick and cutting it into the lengths required between tiers
then carefully drilling down the centre of each length say a 8mm dia hole
then assembling the lot with a length of 8mm studding
finishing the top with a finial with a nut glued into the end

just dont pick up fully loaded by the top finial !!

Lots of other ways to do with lathe work but if you havent got a lathe then the above would suffice
