Hi,

I've just bought my first bit of "serious" kit - a new tablesaw.

From what I've seen paste wax is generally the way to protect it but I've also seen a recommendation to apply thinned spar urethane once setup and every few weeks (followed by paste wax).

Is this a good idea? If so what do people in the UK use as I can't seem to find spar urethane. I may be overthinking it here...

My garage is definitely not climate controlled and I'm looking to protect the cast iron bed on the table saw.

thanks

Thanks both, that's great!

I like the resistor idea - very simple. How do you attach the resisters to the bed as a matter of interest?

I've gone ahead and ordered the relevant bits, as well as the lubricating wax :)

I used short machine screws, M2.5 or M3 to suit the mounting holes in the resistors.
It is a bit of an effort at the outset but thereafter no further work needed.
"fit and forget"
My engineering lathe bought new in 1979 has the same system fitted and is still perfect.
