If you are intrested in building your own router table, the new sautershop router table configurator can be a great help. A simple step by step process guides you through the products you may need, recomending compatable components to the choices already made. If you already have one of the components, a router for example, the configurator will recommend compatable components to build a router table around it. The configurator also automatically calculates a price advantage when 3 or more components are purchased.

Very useful. I would love a split fence to avoid having to find shims on the outfeed side and am putting the pennies towards a Jessem TA fence. Pity no one makes a small scale version.

Yes a good fence, have looked at this as an option but seem to be drawn back to the Incra fence and positioner, with my engineering background I am toing and froing between the two because the Jessem is supported at both ends whilst the Incra relies on the positioner in the middle but I think it is just theory versus reality and £460 against £570. The Incra also uses a clever system to offset the fences and provides support for taller workpieces.

This configurator is only Sauter products and we all know that no one makes the best of everything and unless you are a brand junky then you have a collection from various oem's. When I think of fences it is the Incra that comes to mind with their positioner, the Sauter fences look much like the Kreg fence I currently use. I suppose we all start somewhere and if I started with Kreg then the Sauter looks comparable. I also do not believe that Jessem or Incra have much real competition in the lifter market, the closest is probably Woodpecker. Having not heard of Sauter until recently with their tilting lifter I suppose they are progressing newer items and playing catchup. It would help the Sauter brand if they had been displayed at the woodworking shows, nothing beats hands on and with the Woodworkers workshop being so active in showing really top notch tools we have probably become somewhat infected.

Just a little information to the sauter brand. We are a german internet shop who have been doing buisness in the German speaking market since 1999, We are currently one of the biggest providers of woodworking equipment in the german speaking area, employing over 50 employees. Our sauter brand router lifts are all precision made in Germany and are easily comparable with Jessum and Incra. We are also the European agent for Woodpeckers amoung others, and Kreg Europe is a subsiduary of ours.
We are slowly reaching out in the english speaking market. Our english speaking shop has only been up and runnung for just over a year, so it obviously hasn't been possible to take part in any shows. We were booked to appear at the North of England Woodworking & Power Tool Show in Harrogate, but have heard that this week it has been canceled for 2021.
A proper look at our configurator will reveal products from Harveys, Trend, Kreg, Mafell and many others.

Do you have any UK distribution yet? Thanks to Brexit I now think twice about ordering from other European countries thanks to the additional import costs.

We don't have any distribution in the UK at the moment. But the original Brexit chaos seems to have calmed down. We are sending to quite a lot of UK customers and there is very little trouble. There are also minimal extra costs, You don't have to pay the 19% Vat here but if your order is over 135GPB you do have to pay 20% vat in the UK. This is collected by the shipper (UPS normally) and they add a small surcharge for their administration. If you use a reputable shipping company it all seems to ren very smoothly. The only complaints we had from customers was in the first 6 week transition phase when people were surprised that they had to pay the VAT, but since then nothing.

Just a few comments, slightly unrelated to the router tables but...

1. I assume you charge the customer in Euros, so the exchange rate is down to the bank and also any foreign currency credit card charges?

2. It would be great if you could build a UK specific site which automatically removes the confusing language about 19% VAT (which we don't have to pay) but the 20% vat pre-calculated automatically

3. Your helpline number is a German one... could you add live chat to make it cost-free for UK based people?

4. I checked for example at random a Festool TS55 which does seem quite price competitive. Do you ship it with a UK power cable though? Is it possible to buy the saw from yourself but deal with Festool UK for warranty register, issues, repairs etc?

i purchased the sauter router plate(non lift). Still have to install it, plans changed from a standaleone router table to built into an MFT style. however, haev to say hugely impressed at the quality and service, although i am in ireland so avoided any payment hassles (i get them all the time with workshop heaven though :) )

and apologies, i know it looks dodgy a first time poster talking about a product like that, long time lurker, i've zero connection to the company other than 2 orders over the last few months

It would be nice if you could invoice us multiple times and keep each one below £135!
The problem with that is you have to send the items seperatly. If someone orders a €399.00 Festool item I cannot write 4 different invoices for it I also cannot put an invoice with it saying it only costs €130.00. If there is a detailed customs check (which happens randomly) we would have a lot of problems.

1. Yes that is correct you are charged in Euros. So obviously the GBP price will fluctuate.

2. We have only had our English speaking website up and running a little over a year, at the moment it rides "piggy back" on the German site, that means it is an exact copy of the German site, but translated into English. All the background merchandise management, invoicing is managed by the German site. We sell all over the world through the site so it’s very difficult to make the site Land specific. But this is something we plan for the future. At present we are in the process of expanding into a new 60,000 ft² office/ warehouse

3. We also plan to add live chat at some point, in several languages. The problem is finding staff that are not only proficient enough in a language but also have enough specialist knowledge of the products we sell.

4. Festool, ahh. As a contract partner form Festool we are obliged to obey certain rules they set. We can sell to anywhere in Europe, including the UK, without affecting the consumers rights, meaning the Festool all inclusive guarantee is valid. However they won’t supply us with tools with a UK plug, to protect ther UK suppliers. However as many of their tools have a separate cable now that shouldn’t be too big a problem.
