Good evening! New member here I am looking for some advice on planing pallet boards, Would a cheap planer thicknesser do the job?(new)
Or should I look for second hand? Reading some posts on here something like a Inca maybe.
i only work from a small workshop with 240v
Budget is about £300.
Thanks Eric.

Welcome to the forum, I myself have no experience working with pallet boards but there will be members here I am sure that will come along with their advice.

Welcome to the forum, they'll both do the job nicely, but obviously the more you pay the longer it will keep doing it nicely.

That said i have a cheap erbrauer 8" thickness / planer that has been awesome, had it about 5 years and its still fine (at £50 it was too cheap to pass up.) Only problem is the fence on a cheaper planer, they move ALOT so need some reinforcement.

Ive found pallet wood planes well as long as you go with the grain. Key is to check VERY VERY well for for screws and nails. You can buy a cheap metal detector online or in most diy stores

Welcome Eric
I too have a cheap Planer/Thicknesser and as SimonT says the fence is rubbish, you can easily get around that by clamping a piece of timber that you know is square and use that as your fence, that's what I do.
Re a metal detector, buy a good quality one from a known dealer, there are a lot of fakes which are useless.

Thanks for the fast replies, I have seen the Erbauer machine in Screwfix for £199, I will go and pick one of them up and make a better fence for it.
Thanks for your advice and I will keep you informed.
