Hi all,

Forgive me if I am misunderstanding the point of this forum, this is my first time here.

Finally I get some proper space!

I am looking to by a table saw - I have read so many reviews and am not any clearer on what would best suit my needs.

Anyway - can anyone advise on whether there are portable table saws the TS200 ilk that would take a dado set?

I have been also been looking at the Charnwood w619...

I am not a professional, just a keen hobbyist.

One more thing - can anyone advise on where I could source a fence for a Dewalt DW738 Bandsaw - it is pretty expensive if you by the component parts but I can't seem to find any on there own...

Hello mate. I have the Charnwood you mentioned. It won't take a dado set. (Never wanted one personally) it's a good little saw once set up. It's not what you would call portable though. If you want to move it about you will have to put it on wheels.

Although you can do as you please in your own workshop, bear in mind that dado heads are illegal in commercial workshops - for good reasons. That's why european saws are mostly fitted with spindles too short to take a dado head.

Dado sets are NOT illegal in UK. Some dado set-ups are but not all.

There's a great deal about the subject on the web but you could start here ...

Wow thanks all for these replies - so glad I posted... more reading to do then!

I am quite happy cutting dados with a jig and router but have been watching people (mainly Americans I admit) on youtube flying through the process with a dado set hence looking into it now. I will read up on it now.

Would the Charnwood be a better bet than a portable if I have the space and don't need to move it alot?
