I have had fantastic use out of my nail gun over the years and unfortunately the 5m air hose it connects to my compressor is leaking badly.

The leak is situated where the rubber hose goes intot the metal collar that forms part of the male end where it goes into the nail gun itself.

It's no surprise on the location of this as this is the main region that gets bent the most resulting in the rubber cracking, hence the leak.

The reason for this article is to ask if I could easily repair this hose rather than by a new one? With a 5metre hose, it would be nothing to lose a few inches if it could be repaired.

Has anyone done such a repair?

Please let me know.

Regards

yes, snip the end off.
if you chuck a picture of the fitting up here, you might find you can reuse it, it should be a barbed fitting but it might have a crimped outer. you can ut the outer off and use a jubilee clip, if not you'll have to buy a fitting, so check the ID of your pipe (I'd have thought 1/4" or 8mm) and the threaded end (most likely 1/2" or 1/4" NPT or BSP) then nip down to your local plumbers merchant (or better yet dingy little machinist shop) and pick one up. add some strain relief while your at it. you can buy rubber flexi shrouds that will help a ton.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like it can be repaired from what you've both said. Will try and put a picture of it on here.

Snip the end off, if it goes again you could get a ball and socket type fitting for the hose, seen them in local industrial suppliers ages ago hope that helps
