Hello, recently I was very lucky to be gifted by Bill and Sarah Carter a hand cranked fretsaw.
The only marking on it, apart from some wonderful pinstriping, is the word PATENT cast into the frame.
I know it was previously purchased in France before finding it's way to England.
The fact it says PATENT in English indicates it possibly came from an English speaking country.
Any ideas?
Cheers Andy

Nice gift.
What will you cut/ Sell?
Ah yes, unfortunately I don't do any fretwork to speak of, my aim is to collect and show the public the wonderful contrivances that are fast disappearing under the mountain of plastic tat that we consume today. Some may know of fretsaws but a hand cranked is beyond their imagination....

I had something similar years ago, bought for very little, but also didn't have an apprentice to power it. Totally unusable by one person, I reckon. Wonder where it is now?

Hey up Dick, hope you are alright and to answer your question....
Next stack of boxes, 6 down;)(y)
