Guys, I'm starting to build a subwoofer home.
I bought a cone of B & W and an amplifier always B&W to 350W.
Not really for the home

Is that design from plans or your own?

What do the holes do - amplify the bass?

Rod

Rod, design and mine, although very similar to that of B & W Matrix.
Many holes Union should serve to amplify low and does not interfere much air moving sub,,,

That looks like quite a nice looking enclosure you've built to house it, really like the strip-built effect of the cladding over the MDF.

The sub itself looks like a real beast!

Is it ported?

I was expecting an acoustic labyrinth - I can't quite see how this works can you explain a bit please?

Thanks,

E.

You can not see, because missing bas reflex tube. Should be mounted at the top where most holes are large, in the center. Must be 6 "like this:

The power of the "beast" must be devastating.
And as a thing for the house, it should be used with caution,,, #-o

Everything is covered with strips of walnut,,,

Thanks for the extra info - it makes sense now!

E.

To keep "the beast" in it, after strips of walnut, everything is coated with epoxy resin, reinforced with glass fiber. The resin them from extreme rigidity and robustness, and how and transparent, can be seen strips of walnut

Thanks, you've given me a few ideas for a set of speaker I plan to make.

It was a pleasure to be part of the beginning of a new project.
Good construction

hmmmmn :D It looks very nice and I bet it belts out LF but not entirely sure what all the other holes are for inside the cabinet, are they just making the cross sections lighter and those cross sections are purely structural to hold the bass tube? Surely all of those flat surfaces inside the box aren't particularly helpful for creating standing waves?

Surely all these flat surfaces inside the box are not particularly useful, but you need to hear. It has a low deep and devastating if you overdo it with volume ... I'm very happy with how it sounds. The only drawback, and the exterior finish. This should be redone.
