Bought a new Record Power lathe from Yandles recently, developed a problem with the tool rest banjo, took it to Yandles at lunch time today, by the time I left Lee had organised a replacement being sent to my home address direct from Record ower!

Can't ask for better service than that!

Would recommend Yandles for a visit if any of you guys are near them!

Well In Not In Agreement with your praise of Yandles as a company I purchased my first cl3 off them a while back im living I Wales so we had a fair distance to travel as you can imagine. before I set out I called them for a stock enquiry and was told they had 3 there. Upon arrival there was none only one that was on display so after travelling all that way I stupidly purchased along with the nova chuck don't know if your aware but the chuck is sold by record themselves along with the FREE inset to fit the 3/4 inch thread required for the chuck to fit ,as a goodwill gesture ...........    They took £25 off the price of the lathe which I thought was not right aas it had been on display for some considerable time but with the hassle factor I wanted a lathe that day because I sold mine I took it all.IT wasn't until I got home and realised I had been charged £32 for a free inset I checked the record site upon assembling the lathe I found various parts missing the lack of locknuts being one and their use of threaded bar to bolt the bed bars down being new to turning I didn't know what the problems were until was informed by a experienced turner then after 3 weeks the screw chuck sheared I called yandles they charged me £25 Plus carriage for a replacement I explained the chuck was not very old and under guarantee but I still had to pay ,it was at this point I started calling record whom I spoke to a very nice team that looked into this and sent out all the fittings I needed along with the tools that go with the machine that Yandlesdidnt supply its for this reason ill never buy from Yandles again my friend was in need of a chuck he liked my nova so I travelled to toolite to get it in the forest of dean,
I can honestly praise Stuart Pickering and his guys at record for Their assistance but Also put yandles tool centre at the bottom of my list for recommendations everybody has their own opinions and experiences and that is mine I feel vey bitter for the way I was treated as a raw newbie by such a supposedly professional team selling on behalf of record when I complained about my machine being noisy they didn't really seem bothered either I eventually got back to record and it was sorted in days. also my banjo went and record replaced mine the one I was sold had a pin going through the centre on the new one from record it is solid

I have had very variable service at Yandles. They are reasonably close for me but some of the staff are not very knowledgable or helpful. Also I have noticed that stock levels are often low on many items.

The spring show is very good though. In general I shop elsewhere which is a shame because I would like to support a local business.

I bought a trend air shield from them but it had a damaged visor. They would not post a replacement so wasted an hour and 20 mins to return it. Why would they not accept me posting back the damaged part for replacement I do not know but was not that happy.

Also tried to buy an Airace. They had a demo model out but we're plain weird and rude when I wanted to test it for fit. Very odd......

Their blanks are reasonable and that is all I use them for now as I can inspect before I buy but most of my turning is green wood these days.

For tools Axminster has all was provided first rate service for me.
