My 3rd box project - jewellery box for SWMBO

Hi guys, here is my latest project, I made it as a present for the wife, its cherry, from some old doors that we scrapped off a job, with ripple sycamore lining. I have also used a pair of the new "smart hinges" - very nice! The bottom is lined with some alcantara and there is sliding ring tray in the top.

I have also got a bevelled edge 4mm mirror to go inside the lid, but its not ready from the glaziers yet, so not in the piccies.

This was my first attempt at dovetails, apart from 3 practice pieces on some scrap, they took a bit of work to make look nice, but overall, I am quite pleased with the result. I really like making boxes!!

It's beautifully made and i love the tray inside going to look good

but

I think you may have got your dovetails back to front. If you think of pulling the sides outwards then the dovetails should prevent it - even with out glue, your ones wouldn't

I say that in a meant to help you next time kind of a way

I have done it myself

it's still a nice box - be proud and SWMBO will be delighted
