Good morning,
I’m new to this forum, having seen posts associated with woodwork and machines through google I thought I’d get involved

I’ve been a joiner for 25 years now! I feel old..

I currently use a new robland hx310 pro combo machine which is a nice tool,

I’ve decided to buy a multico tenoner (originally 3 phase now converted to single)
It works fine, but one of the brackets?! That hold the bed bars on has been welded, I’m a bit picky so I’d like to replace it and imagine there not available anymore sadly,
Just wondering if anyone has made, bought or knows how to get a replacement at all?

It’s a great machine certainly easier than using the spindle moulder with sliding carriage, that works fine just a bit slower!
Here’s a few pictures of it, I’ve been painting bits and bobs to freshen it up a bit,
Thanks

Kevyn

The bracket is cast iron, and no I’m not aware that you can buy spares. They are actually a really easy part to make out of solid. The two bore locations to each other and the machined surface underneath are the only key dimensions. Any machining shop can make you one.
However, not sure how it’s been welded, but welding (preferably brazing or specialist cast iron welding) is a perfect way to make a repair. A little grinding, perhaps a dab of filler and paint and you will never know it was damaged. A good weld does not produce a weak joint.

Yes I have thought of getting one made up from a fab shop, like you say the weld is ok seems to do the job, guess it’s just ugly looking! But doesn’t affect how it works, I’ll look into getting one made,
Thanks

If the weld has been decently executed, 5 minutes with a flap disc on the angry grinder would do wonders.
If, after said flapperring, the penetration of the weld looks suspect, then take the piece off and take it to a welding specialist. Properly done, I see no real reason to have a new one made.
A decently finished off weld will be as good as a new piece and almost invisible.
Completely invisible if you then painted it.

I wonder how that bit was broken. there was a (very rare)spindle table and fence made. using it involved removing the sliding table. I looked pretty good having 2 powerful spindles. it did operate at an angle to avoid the motors. the bed bars are more a wear item as there a bit soft.

Hello All This is my first post. As a Multico tenoner owner I always keep an eye out on E bay and I have found a listing for the bar you are talking about. It is listed as an Original Multico Tenoner Modern style traverse bar casting price £80 + £6.75 p and p. The seller’s name is Rodgers 818. Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I’ll be watching the auction and certainly be bidding on it

Thanks Kevyn
