Hi SammyQ
Are you after a rack for the same drill ? if so can you send me the details please and i have gone and lost the chuck key now #-o #-o anyone know what size chuck key i need for the drill above you might have the same drill thanks' Mock

Mock, I was in correspondence with Clarke's before I moved, a year ago, and I suspect the email is deleted or buried by now.

That said, I still need the rack, so please give me 48 hours to dig?

Sam

These were just re-badged Taiwanese machines that came under many different brands such as Nutool and Sealey, you may have better luck finding spares for those.

Thanks Trev.

Mock, I had no luck locating the info; drat, sorry. But, I do have a chuck key, will look today for insignia on it. Couldn't yesterday, as away from home.

I still intend to chase down a rack; it was going to be £28 - £30, plus VAT and postage I think.

Sam

Mock, the chuck key had no markings. But...

The central boss of the key is 8mm in diameter. I've included photaes of the chuck so that you might search for its data sheet and maybe there get a chuck key reference? Sorry, got a family medical issue tonight or I'd do it myself. Please gulder (Ulster patois for "shout") if you want more (better??) pictures or help.

Am i correct in saying the chuck key got 12 teeth and it's 8 mm ?/ If so i can not find a chuck key to suit there are a few with 11 teeth would it make that much difference ? Mock

Roger, correct. I have no idea if 11 teeth would work, sorry. Mine is an imperfect fit, will take more phone photos now, then transfer to kaptop later to send to you.

That's what I mean by a 'loose fit'. The 8mm boss fits perfectly in the hole, but there is a fair bit of 'play' in the meshing of the gears? That may be normal, I am no engineer.

yes i see what you mean i might order one with 11 teeth and see what it fits like cheers for that Mock

Mock, I've got a drawer full of keys, they're all eleven tooth and fit 13-16 mm chucks interchangeably. I'll bung one in the box when I send you the handwheel if you'd like.
Robin.

My drill looks the same as that and was made in 1987, the sticker of the make is worn off.
Its had a hard life before I bought it, and unable to tell if its the original 12 tooth chuck key,

The boss is mushroomed so I didn't take a measurement either.
It's not a tight fit to the chuck by any means, tested on a few of the remaining lesser damaged teeth.
It looks like someone took a file to the chuck :p

Strangely enough the chuck key has no damage on the teeth considering.

The maker of my chuck is H- Chau, some of the other stamps are illegible .
J 3 - CAPO - 16 in random locations.

Is the rack gone completely?, Haven't checked but could you install it upside down?
I can try and give information on my one if need be.

If you end up needing/finding a supplier, I would be interested to know as my return spring is needing replacment.

Sorry to be annoying but think it might be of use to someone, I don't want a virtual chuck key thrown at me!
Lidl sell these magnetic trays for less than a fiver for two.
Here's another trinket apart from the chuck keys sticking to the tray...that little pencil parer was always hard to find until now.

Tom, apologies if you already know this but the markings on your chuck mean that it has a Jacobs number 3 internal taper and a 16mm capacity (CAP) - not sure about the O/0 . If you want to replace it any JT3 chuck should fit.
Robin.

No I didn't know that, and I was considering getting a chuck if I need frequent use of it.
Thanks Bob :)
Mock I can get you some measurements/pics if you need for the rack.
Any help to you?
I'm nearly sure I've seen similar if not the same somewhere, maybe in the engineering supply shop.
Tom

Thanks' Tom ill get back to you regarding your kind offer to measure the rack i have a few enquires awaiting answers Mock
